Max. size:  8.2 cm SL (male/unsexed); 7.62 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 9 - 19
Distribution:  South America: Río Atrato, Colombia, to Belém, Brazil near the mouth of the Amazon River, all Atlantic slope drainages.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Observed from estuaries and river deltas over sand and mud bottoms. Feeds by filtering the substrate or by selectively catching prey. Collected in large numbers during reproduction in shallow flowing water (Ref. 26240).
