| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 16-16; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-11; Anal spines: 7-7; Anal soft rays: 9-9; Vertebrae: 26-26. Distinguished from other congeners by the combination of the following characters: caudal vertebrae 12; absence of mark on side of head; 14-15 proximal radials on anal-fin base; head with a depression near the snout in individuals above 3.0 cm SL; scales on upper lateral line row 17-18; wide ectopterygoid; arms of epibranchial 2 with two long tubular processes; arm of epibranchial 1 long; and arms of vertical trunk bar 7 with the same width (Ref. 79631). | |||
