Family:  Atherinopsidae (Neotropical silversides), subfamily: Menidiinae
Max. size:  5.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Honduras, Costa Rica and Colombia.
Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 23-27
Biology:  Found along the coast and in estuaries, may ascend rivers (Ref. 6858). Feeds on crustaceans, terrestrial and aquatic insects, and diatoms (Ref. 6858).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 January 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
