Diagnosis: Dorsal rays 66; anal rays 49; lateral-line scales 77, vertebrae 34; dorsal pterygiophores anterior to fourth neural spine 11; body depth 2.35 in SL; head length (HL) 4.4 in SL; snout 2.5 in HL; eye diameter 5.55 in HL; interorbital space 6.2 in HL; tubular anterior nostril long, reaching beyond front edge of eyeball of lower eye when laid back; cirri on front of snout and ventral side of head small; no caudal peduncle; last dorsal and anal rays overlapping adjacent caudal rays; depth of caudal-fin base 1.55 in HL; longest dorsal ray 1.6 in HL; caudal fin short, 4.85 in SL; pelvic fins just reaching base of second anal ray, the longest ray 2.7 in HL; light brown, densely mottled with dark brown, with two large irregular darker brown blotches on lateral line, the posterior one in middle of lateral line, continuing as a broad irregular band ventroposteriorly to base of anal fin (Ref. 57561). | |||
