Distribution:  Southwestern Atlantic: shelf waters of Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 50-52. This species is distinct by having the following characters: ceratobranchial of the first branchial arch with 7 rakers; pectoral fin with 17-18 rays; ventral fin 11-12 rays; lateral line scales 51-53 (usually 52); vertebrae 50-52 (usually 51) (Ref. 82076).
