Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Geophaginae
Max. size:  4.1 cm SL (male/unsexed); 5.5 cm (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Essequibo River drainage, including the Potaro and Rupununi rivers, Corantijn and Cuyuni River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum length is 7.5 cm TL (Ref. 12251). Eggs are deposited on the ceiling of caves and are tendered by the female parent (Ref. 47893).
