Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 184 - 351 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-7; Vertebrae: 26-26. Sum of lateral-line scales plus total number of gillrakers, on individual specimens, 78 to 85; caudal fin lunate to deeply forked: dorsal, anal, pelvic, and caudal fins each with some produced soft rays; upper caudal-fin lobe longer than lower; anal fin angulated posteriorly; gular region without scales; endopterygoids and tongue without teeth (Ref. 41254).
