Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 24-29. Body moderately elongate. Snout moderate, about 3/4 eye diameter; maxilla moderate, tip pointed, reaching onto inter-operculum, but not to edge of gill cover; gill cover canals of panamensis-type. Anal fin fairly long, its origin before midpoint of dorsal fin base. A narrow silver stripe along flank, about 1/2 eye diameter. |
| Occurs in coastal waters. In the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica it was recorded only in the more oceanic outer part of the Gulf, along sandy beaches. |
