Max. size:  40.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon and Orinoco River basins. Also found in Rio Negro basin (Ref. 52916).
Diagnosis:  Bifurcated canals of the lateral line scales; 52 scale rows between the lateral line and base of the dorsal fin; and 31-35 scale rows between the lateral line and the base of the anal fin (Ref. 52916).
Biology:  Inhabits clear and black-water rivers (Ref. 52916). Feeds on fishes (Ref. 598).
