Remarks Occurs in lentic and lotic freshwater. Inhabits backwaters, swamps and turbid channels of large rivers (Ref. 2847). Found in small to large pools over rock and sand, usually in more open, unshaded sections of streams. Water temperature typically ranges between 25° and 30°C (Ref. 44894). Omnivorous species (Ref. 7300). Feeds on benthic algae.
