Fish affected:    
Symptoms: Exhibits haemorrhages and exophthalmos (Ref. 48502). Some clinical signs include lenticular opacity, haemorrhage in the inner wall of the operculum or fins, ulcers appear in the body or caudal fin, heart surface also becomes opaque, and in tensive haemorrhages occurs in the liver, pyloric caeca, spleen and kidney (Ref. 048652). Abnormal swimming behaviour includes erratic and swirling motion. Ascites or dropsy can also be oberve with mucoid inflammation of the gut (Ref. 045600).  
Treatments: Erythromycin (Dose: 2g/100L for 2 days , sometimes needs to be repeated once a week, for three weeks) or Tylosin (Dose: 2g/100L for 2 days, and sometimes it is necessary to repeat each week, during 3 weeks of treatment.). Ref. 48502.  
Prophylaxis:    
Remarks: The brain is the primary site of infection. Case reports indicate that the disease is stress related and the careless handling of the fish results in chronic state to outbreaks of acute disease and mass mortality (Ref. 045600).
