Remarks 'Gizzard' from Old French 'giser' from Vulgar Latin 'gicerium' from Latin 'gigeria', i.e., cooked entrails of poultry (p. 255 in Ref. 11979); 'fish', from Germanic 'fiskaz' from the same source as Latin 'piscis', from Indo-European 'piskos' (p. 229 in Ref. 11979).
