Remarks Âholehole means "sparkling" in Hawaiian, referring to the bright silvery color of the fish (Ref. 44091). From 'hole', to strip away, fish is used for magic 'to strip away' evil spirits and for love magic... 'He ahole ka i'a, hole ke aloha, ' meaning ahole is the fish, love is restless (of ahole fish used in love magic) (Ref. 10340). Foreigners are sometimes called ahole because of their fair skin (Ref. 10340).
