Remarks (of the voyageurs). 'Poisson' from Latin 'piscis' from Indo-European 'piskos' (p. 229 in Ref. 11979); 'bleue' from Francique 'blao' (p. 92 in Ref. 9404); the name is referring to the striking black-blue to blue-grey to deep purple color of the dorsal portion of this fish (Ref. 1998).
