Remarks Local fishers provide little information for this species. Johannes (1981) says schools are commonly found in shallow water near the edge of the inner barrier reef slope, south of Toachel m'lengui but only with an incoming tide and only from the twenty-sixth of one lunar month to the seventeenth of the next. These fish were seen to turn into the deep channel through the barrier reef and swim towards the outer reef, suggesting that spawning probably occurs outside the reef.
