Remarks 'snake' like 'serpent' and 'snail' is etymologically the 'crawling' animal, from a prehistoric German base denoting 'crawl' (p. 485 in Ref. 11979); 'moray' from Latin 'muraena' and Greek 'myraina', i.e., a fish of which the ancients were very fond. Also Ref. 37816.
