Remarks Local fishers are not familiar with the spawning behavior of desui. Ngiraklang, said to be Palau's most knowledgeable fisherman, says that based on the condition of the gonads, it probably spawned around the full moon. This is consistent with the published observations of Johannes. On the fringing reef along the east coast of Peleliu, Johannes easily approached a school of desui swimming in a tight clockwise direction. Samples from this school showed ripe individuals; he believes it was a spawning aggregation (Ref. 2928). Also Ref. 10494, 100789.
