Etymology: Oneirodes: Greek, 'oneiros' = a dream or dreamlike or out of a dream (suggesting this fish is so strange and marvelous that can exist only in dreams) (Ref. 86949); quadrinema: 'quadro'(Latin), i.e., meaning four; and 'nema'(Greek), i.e., meaning tread or appendage. It refers to the four main branches on medial escal appendage of the species (Ref. 110440).
