Found in coastal waters, seldom entering tidal rivers and estuaries. Feeds mainly on invertebrates. The sharp dorsal and pectoral fin spines can inflict painful wounds. Caught mainly with bottom trawls, bamboo stake traps and longlines. Sold mostly fresh and dried-salted in markets.
