Dorsal spines (total): 6 - 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-11; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10 - 13. Anus set behind tips of pelvic fins. Lower jaw highly elevated posteriorly. Attains 15 cm SL.
