Diagnosis: Distinguished from its congeners by the combination of the following characters: 2 pairs of barbels; snout rounded; 69-80 lateral line scales; 14-17 scales rows between lateral line and dorsal-fin origin. 12-14 between lateral line and anal-fin origin; 19-23 gill rakers on the first gill arch; lower jaw slightly arched in males, straight in females; head length 23.3-26.7% SL; depth of caudal peduncle 10.8-13.4% SL; head width at posterior margin of eye 49.3-56.5% HL; snout depth at nostril 30.0-41.1 % HL; length of anterior barbel 8.1-14.1 % HL and posterior barbel 11.5-19.3% HL (Ref. 57640).
Asia: endemic to Turkey.
Inhabits swift flowing water, with cobbles and pebbles bottom (Ref. 57640).
