Asia: Japan Sea side of eastern Honshu (Akita, Yamagata, Fukushima in western area and Niigata Prefectures).
Inhabits rivers, lakes and ponds in plains; creeks and rivers near coasts, and mouths of rivers draining into lagoons. Deposits its eggs into host mussels (Ref. 78070).
