South America: Lower rio Benin basin, in the rios Nareuda and Muyumanu, of the rios Tahuamanu-Orthon drainage that runs parallel to the rio Madre de Dios, and the rio Madeira basin.
Found in oxbow lakes, river or small river habitats in forest with whitewater or turbid-white water and bottom consisting of sandy or muddy substrate with sticks, logs and leaves (Ref. 57085).
