Etymology: Yunnanilus: From Yunnan, city on southwest China; brevis: From Latin brevis which means short (Ref. 39226).

Asia: known only from Inle Lake and the nearby He-Ho plain in the Southern Shan States, Myanmar (Ref. 12040). Reported from the Salween basin (Ref. 12041).

Found in still and slow running waters (Ref. 4832). Occurs in a shallow lake, with dense bottom and floating vegetation (Ref. 39226).
