The only documented specimens originate from the Djim, a small tributary of the Mbam which enters the Sanaga downstream from the Nachtingal Falls (Ref. 81642). Type locality of the holotype of Platyglanis depierrei: 'Djim (affluent du Mbam lequel se jette dans le Sanaga en aval des chutes Nachtigal) aux environs du pont franchissant la rivière sur la piste qui mène de Nguila à Ngorro' (Ref. 115782).
