Occurs throughout Alaska, from the arctic coast to the Kuskokwim River (Ref. 27547). It is present from the mouth of the Yukon river to the headwaters (Ref. 27547). In the Tanana River drainage it is known from Minto Flats and the Tolovana, Chatanika and Chena rivers and probably farther upstream (Ref. 27547). It is present in most, if not all, of the rivers draining to the Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort seas (Ref. 27547). Widespread and abundant in the brackish, nearshore waters of the Alaskan Beaufort Sea (Ref. 28503). There is a commercial fishery operating in the Colville River Delta (Ref. 27547). Largest of the Alaskan whitefishes (Ref. 27547). Also Ref. 1998, 6876, 10280, 11366, 28503, 96339, 119194, 121277.
