Occurs in rivers of Deccan in Andhra, Karnataka and Maharashtra States, up to the Krishna river system (Ref. 4833) and Tungbhadra river at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh (Ref. 45255). Very common in the Tungabhadra river at Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) where large quantities are fished by drag-nets between February and March (Ref. 4833). Also Ref. 41236, 43640.
