Known from the Mekong basin (Ref. 43281). Occurs in the Khone Falls (Ref. 37772) and Ban Hang Khone at Don Khone, 3 km below the fall line of the great waterfalls of the Mekong basin at Lee Pee. Reported to migrate upstream during the dry season in January/March in Southern Laos (Ref. 37769). Regarded by Ban Hang Khone fishermen as non-migratory. The present catch in Ban Hang Khone is reportedly only about 10% of what it was in 1970 (Ref. 9497). Becoming locally rare (Ref. 43281). Museum: Mekong at Ban Hang Khone, just below Khone Falls, CAS 94880 (Ref. 5515). Also Ref. 12369, 36654, 37767, 56905.
