Description synthétique
Morphologie | Morphométrie
Épines dorsales (Total): 14 - 5; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 12-13; Épines anales 1; Rayons mous anaux: 22 - 27. Can be diagnosed from all congeners in Bomberai Peninsula and Bird’s Neck region by the combination of the following characters: dorsal fin with IV to V-I,12 to 13 rays; anal fin with I,22-27 rays; 34-37 lateral scales; 10-11 transverse scales; 17-18 predorsal scales; 12-14 cheek scales; 18-20 gillrakers; snout length 8.0-9.1% of SL; interorbital width 9.0-9.5% of SL; eye diameter 6.3-7.9% of SL; caudal peduncle length 16.5-17.7% of SL; predorsal length 49.5-52.1% of SL; prepelvic length 36.9-38.0% of SL; preanal length 47.4-49.3% of SL; and spine length of the anal fin 9.1-11.3% of SL (Ref. 91054).
The type locality, Gebiasi Creek, is a typical fragmented hydrologic system in a karstic environment. It emerges from a karstic cave then flows on about 60 m before disappearing in a subterranean outlet and reappears in the mangrove after 200 m underground from a small cave. This species inhabits the aerial river portion. The creek is characterized by blue and crystalline stream, narrow (to about 2-3 m wide), relatively shallow (up to about 1 m) and flowing in primary forest (Ref. 91054).
