Distinguished from other congeners by the combination of the following characters: caudal vertebrae 12; absence of mark on side of head; dorsal-fin spines 15-16; dorsal-fin rays 10; anal-fin spines 7-8; anal-fin rays 8-9; pectoral-fin rays 13-14; 25 proximal radials on dorsal-fin base; 13-14 proximal radials on anal-fin base; rib pairs 10; scales in longitudinal row 26-28; scales on upper lateral line row 16-17; wide ectopterygoid; snout normal, not robust; arms of vertical trunk bar 7 with the same width; arm of epibranchial 1 long; arms of epibranchial 2 with two short tubular processes; pre-orbital length 60.4-65.2% HL; absence of depression on head; body depth 42.6-46.1% SL; last dorsal-fin spine length 11.9-13.5% SL; last anal-fin spine length 12.2-13.3% SL; caudal peduncle length 6.4-8.1% SL; (Ref. 79631).
