Escal bulb without membranous anterior crest; the distal escal appendage an elongate, cylindrical stalk, with an expanded distal end and an elongate, compressed prolongation emerging anteriorly from bases of escal hooks, without lateral serration. But bearing tiny filaments at distal tip. Prolongation of distal escal appendage extremely short, 2.9% SL (vs. 5.2-20.8% SL). There are 2 lightly pigmented, bony, hooklike denticles embedded in esca.
