পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 0; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 14; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 9. 2-3 small black spots on last simple dorsal-fin ray; dark blotch at base of simple and first two branched dorsal-fin rays; head spotted; color pattern with 8-13 dark blotches along lateral line, reaching venter in most specimens; no conspicuous black stripe along lateral line or along mid-dorsal longitudinal line; caudal peduncle elongated, 1.9-2.4 times longer than deep; no acuminate scales on caudal peduncle; distinct median incision in upper lip.

Adult specimens have been collected in fast-flowing rivers with rock or large-sized gravel substratum; juveniles from sandy substratum in moderate current.
