पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 7; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 9; गुदा कांटा 2; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 8. Second spine in first dorsal fin thick and tall, almost reaching end of second dorsal fin base, when folded down (Ref. 48635).

Occurs in sheltered reef flats, lagoons, and seaward reefs (Ref. 1602). Usually only found at night to depths of 25 m (Ref. 48635). Solitary and secretive (Ref 90102).
