背的軟條 (總數): 10-11; 臀鰭軟條: 10 - 11. Distinguished from all other Hemiodus species, except H. ternetzi and H. thayeria, by the presence of a dark longitudinal stripe extending from behind the eye or the opercle to the tip of the lower caudal fin lobe. This species is distinguished from H. ternetzi and H. thayeria by the possession of a dorsal fin oblique blotch, extending from its anterior distal portion through the middle basal portion of the fin.
除了 H. ternetzi 與 H. thayeria 以外,與所有的其他 Hemiodus 種區分了, 藉由有從眼睛後面或下面尾鰭葉的鰓蓋到頂端延伸的一條深色的縱向斑紋。 這種被與 H. ternetzi 與 H. thayeria 區分被擁有一個背鰭斜角斑塊, 從它的前面遠端部份經過鰭的中央基部部分延伸。
