Spine dorsali (totale): 10 - 14; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 27-33; Spine anali 2-3; Raggi anali molli: 26 - 33; Vertebre: 40 - 44. Adults dark brown to deep purple in color; eye dark blue. Young translucent with brown spots; first dorsal fin dark (Ref. 4412).
