Spine dorsali (totale): 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 9-10; Spine anali 1; Raggi anali molli: 9. SL to about 28 mm. Body highly compressed and without scales except on the caudal peduncle on some specimen.
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Live among live coral branches (e.g. Pocillopora and Stylophora) (Ref. 1602). Also found in inshore channels in Acropora thickets (Ref. 48637).
