Short description

Dorsal spines (total): 4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 8; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 7. Males golden above, with silvery mottlings and darker spots, and dark blue spots laterally; females mostly buff (Ref. 4405).

Inhabits tide pools with seaweeds and shallow waters down to 20 m. Minimum depth reported from Ref. 397.
