পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 11 - 12; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 14-16; পায়ূ কাঁটা 2; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 17 - 18. Body dusky with about 5 dusky broken bands; underside of head with 2 faint dusky bands; pectorals faintly dusky; anterior part of dorsal fin with dark spot or spots.

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).
