Western Central Atlantic: known only from Bermuda. The Panama and Puerto Rico specimens reported in Ref. 6791 were not this species, but perhaps Anchoa lyolepis).

Description synthétique Morphologie | Morphométrie

Épines dorsales (Total): 0; Épines anales 0; Rayons mous anaux: 19 - 22. Body moderately compressed and slender. Snout short, about 3/4 the eye diameter; maxilla long, its tip sharply pointed, reaching almost to the gill opening; gill cover canals of the walkeri-type. A silver stripe is on the sides.

A schooling species occurring in coastal waters. Apparently common (at least in August, but not in July). Specimens with well developed eggs were taken in June, 1927, suggesting a summer spawning period.
