Dorsale stekels (totaal): 0; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal): 11-12; Anale stekels 0; Anale zachte stralen: 9. Diagnosis: Garra ignestii is distinguished from African congeners by the following combination of features: extremely well-developed, large papillate disc; scaled predorsal and postpelvic regions; chest and belly asquamate; vent located close to anal fin; and intestine long (Ref. 58532).
