Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 13; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 17 - 21. Body with silvery sides; black patch on ventral caudal peduncle (Ref. 3982).

Taken in midwater trawls, larger individuals in bottom trawls.
