Dorsal soft rays (total): 72-82; Anal soft rays: 59 - 66; Vertebrae: 42 - 44. Body uniform dark brown in color on eyed-side; 2-3 dorsal pterygiophores articulating on dorsoposterior margin of anteriorly curved neural spine of second precaudal vertebra; urohyal with angle usually greater than 100°; length of posteriormost dorsal fin ray in caudal peduncle depth usually less than 1.5.
