Pigmentation: Flexion-postflexion: little or no pigment; when present, sparse on dorsal and dorsolateral surfaces of gut and, internally, on caudal peduncle near base of hypural plate. Transformation: females completely pigmented except on inner surface of pectoral fin base; males remain lightly pigmented. Sequence of fin development: illicium and caruncle (modified from dorsal fin rays), dorsal and caudal, anal, pectorals. |
