Total myomeres: 118-131; myomeres in preflexion larvae 63+68, in postflexion-transformation larvae 47-52+66-74, and in juvenile 44-50+74-75;; in preflexion stage, large eye (diameter about 50% HL) and preanal length >60% BL; in postflexion-transformation stage, small eye (about 33% HL) and short preanal length (about 57% BL); slender (BD about 18% BL); elongate pelvic fin girdle; by 17.7 mm, ink sac visible and anal fin developing; by 50.4 mm, tubercles developing ventrally on body and tube in caudal fin region.
Pigmentation:
Preflexion: anterior to eye; on forebrain; on snout; 5 patches dorsally, opposing dorso-ventral patches at caudal region; 3 patches above gut; 1 patch over pelvic girdle.
Postflexion-transformation: scattered on snout; over jaw; on forebrain; laterally on body and pterygiophores (6 dorsal and 3 ventral patches expanded); in caudal region and between caudal fin rays; pectoral fin base; internally above gut; over anus and anteriorly to anal fin.
Juvenile: increasing over body and internally on notochord in caudal region.
Sequence of fin development: dorsal and pelvics, caudal and anal, pectorals. |
