Comments: | Introduced in the early 1900s, and subsequently reported from rivers in the 1930s (Ref. 80674). Accidentally introduced in the wild from angling ponds (Ref. 27118). First specimen found in 1957 in the River Adda (Po basin). The species was established twenty years later in the Po River system. Expanding upriver in the Po basin. (Ref. 13686). Also established in Lake Garda. Considered naturalized in 1956 (Ref. 45688). Preys on native communities (Ref. 94493). Ref: FAO, 1997 |
