Definition of Term

generation
(English) The average age of parents of newborn individuals within the population. Greater than the age at first breeding, except in species that spawn only once. Generation time is calculated as (age of maturity / fishing mortality rate) + 1. Where generation length varies under threat, the more natural, i.e., pre-disturbance, generation length shoud be used.
