Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish, amphidromous
Distribution:  Africa: South Africa. Asia and Oceania: Japan to Australia; Mekong and Chao Phraya basins.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-9
Biology:  Found in rivers in clear to turbid water, usually over sand or gravel bottoms (Ref. 5259) and mud (Ref. 44894). Feeds on aquatic insect larvae and prawns (Ref. 5259, 44894) and small fishes (Ref. 12693). Larvae occur in the marine environment (Ref. 5259, 44894). Marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
