Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 40 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific:
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Reddish brown pigment on the snout and cheek, clear fins, and deciduous scales (Ref. 37816). Two pairs of epipleural ribs, no predorsal bones, and hypurals 1-4 are fused into a double fan-shaped structure; 9+15 vertebrae. Transparent with no obvious markings (Ref. 10632).
Biology:  Inhabits clear seaward reefs (Ref. 37816). Nocturnal species (Ref. 7300). Solitary; inhabits deep caves and crevices during day (Ref 90102).
