Max. size:  35 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 15 - 200 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Angela Islands eastward through Indonesia to the Galapagos Islands, north to southern Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-28; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 23-25
Biology:  Occurs in deep seaward reefs. One collection outside Micronesia was made at 15 m (Ref. 1602). Benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Feeds on zooplanktons (Ref. 89972). Exhibits sexual dimorphism (Ref. 37816). Taken occasionally by bottom fishing (Ref. 1602). Marketed fresh.
