Distribution:  South America: Laguna dos Patos system in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Distinguished from all its congeners, except Trichomycterus candidus and Trichomycterus catamarcensis, by the absence of pelvic fins and pelvic girdle. Can be diagnosed from these two species in several counts and measurements (Ref. 87104).
